Celebrate a new exhibition at Krasl Art Center: ‘Andy Sweet’s South Beach’

Friday, April 14, 6 – 8 pm

FREE and open to the public

Andy Sweet’s South Beach’ opens just in time for our own beach season with a preview celebration. Dust off your resort wear, grab your sunglasses, and enjoy a first look at Sweet’s delightful photography. Live music by Pan Chicago, cash bar, and lite bites provided. Introduction by archivist Edward Christin at 6 pm.

In the late 1970s, Miami native Andy Sweet began photographing the elderly Jewish population of South Beach. Sweet was in his early 20s and was drawn to this group that was familiar to him from his youth. The photos capture an often-forgotten but important moment in Miami’s cultural heritage. Eccentricity, fun, glamor, and kitsch combine in these wonderful, celebratory images.
